Three offices across New YorkTax planning and accounting for people who run things.

Industries

Accounting and tax services by industry

Every accountant says they serve every industry. These are the ones where we already know the chart of accounts, the usual mistakes and the questions worth asking in the first meeting.

Our industries

Industries we specialize in

Auto sales is the one we would put first. Slava spent much of his career in auto finance, and dealership accounting is specialized enough that most firms get it wrong.

Auto sales

Our deepest specialty. Floor plan interest, inventory and cost of sale, finance and insurance income, dealer reserve and chargebacks. A dealership runs several businesses under one roof, and the books have to show each one.

Sales finance

Sales finance companies and buy here, pay here lots. Loan portfolios and interest income, reserves for bad debt, repossessions, and the records a regulator expects to see when it asks.

Real estate

Schedule E on multiple properties, depreciation and cost segregation questions, passive activity limits, 1031 exchanges, and the entity structure that decides how much of it is even available to you.

Construction

Job costing by project, work in progress schedules, retainage, the choice between percentage of completion and completed contract, subcontractor 1099s, and payroll records ready for a workers compensation audit.

Not-for-profit

Form 990 preparation, restricted and unrestricted funds kept apart, functional expense allocation, grant tracking, and the annual New York charities filing that comes with registration.

E-commerce

Marketplace and payment processor payouts reconciled back to gross sales, fees and refunds, inventory and cost of goods sold, Form 1099-K matched to your books, and sales tax once your sales into other states create an obligation there.

Retail and wholesale

Inventory counts and valuation, margins by product line, sales tax and resale certificates, and the cash flow planning a seasonal business needs before the slow months arrive.

Manufacturing

Raw materials, work in process and finished goods, product costing and overhead allocation, equipment depreciation, and the research and development credit where your work qualifies.

Fashion, beauty, arts and design

Inventory and materials costed by collection or project, booth rent and commission income for salons and stylists, 1099s for freelance creatives and contractors, which sales and services are taxable, and deductions for studio space, equipment and supplies.

Not on the list

Do not see your industry?

Most of what makes an industry different is the chart of accounts and two or three recurring judgment calls. If yours is not above, tell us what you do and we will say honestly whether we are the right firm for it.

Tell us what you do

A short call is usually enough to tell whether your books need fixing or just filing.
